About Truth for Today

Who we are

As a group of Christians, we much prefer not to preach about ourselves, but to preach Christ Jesus our Lord. However, we appreciate that people would like to know something about us.

We recognise only that name used of us in Scripture, "Christians" which is used by the Apostle Peter (1 Peter 4:16).

It is our purpose to glorify God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

We believe that:
  1. There is one God, revealed to us in three eternal Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit (triune in being);
  2. The Bible is the inspired Word of God to us and the only authority;
  3. The finished work of Christ in redemption is the only ground of salvation;
  4. Repentance toward God and faith in Christ are the only means of obtaining that salvation;
  5. Baptism and the Lord's Supper are the two ordinances which we should observe;
  6. Christians are indwelt by the Spirit of God and that, when they meet together, the Holy Spirit alone should direct their worship;
  7. All Christians form the body of Christ, the church, which will be the heavenly bride or companion of Christ for eternity;
  8. Once saved, we cannot be lost, and we should be marked by "good works";
  9. Christ is literally coming again soon for all who have trusted in God - those in the past who have died and those who are presently alive - and that we will be with Christ for eternity; and, finally,
  10. The wicked will one day be judged for their sins and receive eternal punishment.

Our aim, by the grace of God, is that of the apostle Paul: "Christ - whom we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: whereunto I also labour, striving according to His working, which worketh in me mightily." (Colossians 1:28-29).
